Volunteer

Give time, not only money.

Shri Ganesh Thakur Socio Educational Research Foundation was established in 2007 in the memory of Educationist Shri Ganesh Thakur, and works across Delhi NCR and Bihar. Classes, health camps, water bodies, plantation drives — most of it needs people standing there, not only funds in an account.

Before you sign up

Five fields, and a person at the end of them.

This is a small foundation, not a portal. Here is exactly what happens between you filling the form and you turning up somewhere useful.

Step One

You tell us what you can offer

Your name, a number we can reach you on, when you are free and what you can do. Nothing else is asked, because nothing else is needed yet.

Step Two

It reaches the office, not an inbox

The form writes a volunteer record straight into the foundation's own workspace. Nobody has to re-type your details from an email, so nothing is lost between the two.

Step Three

Someone calls you

A person from the foundation talks it through with you — which programme fits, where it runs, and what a day there actually looks like. You decide after that call, not before it.

Two honest things, so nobody is disappointed

  • We cannot promise a particular programme, a particular place or a particular date. It depends on what is running near you at the time you get in touch — and on what you are comfortable doing.
  • If you are a student who needs a certificate for college, the internship route is the structured one. Apply there instead, and you will be assessed and certified at the end of it.

Volunteer sign-up

Tell us when you are free and what you can do.

Two required fields. The rest helps the office put you somewhere you will enjoy rather than somewhere convenient.

This is how the office will reach you.

Useful if there is something to send you in writing after the call. Leave it blank if the phone is enough.

When are you usually free?

Pick the one that is closest. Plenty of volunteers end up doing something other than what they first ticked.

Separate them with commas. Trades count as much as degrees — driving, cooking, photography, accounts, first aid, translation, spreadsheets. If you leave this blank it is recorded as general support, and the office works it out with you on the call.

Your details reach the office the moment you send them, and someone rings the number above.

The work

11 programmes you could be part of.

These are the programmes the foundation runs. Volunteers are attached to one of them rather than to the office in general, so it helps to read them before the call.
